Information Architect

​Allin Consulting is interested in speaking with Boston area Information Architects.  In response to services demand, we are looking to expand our User Experience practice with an IA who is interested in taking a leadership role in a small and quickly growing UX practice. The Information Architect is responsible for capturing the project requirements and working closely with client stakeholders and our creative and development teams to build the best possible user experience. You will document the requirements in wireframes, site maps and interaction diagrams. 


You will serve as a user advocate: promoting user needs, preferences, and behaviors through a deep understanding of the latest usability conventions and standards as well as the client’s strategic needs and desired user paths.  

This role will span both consultative engagements for our clients as well as working on new strategic product initiatives.

Duties and Tasks 

  • Conduct usability tests, card sorting exercises, stakeholder interviews and user polling to provide as much information as possible to determine how people interact with a website or application and what they do with that information
  • Determine the site or application’s primary objectives and the best means to realize those goals
  • When necessary, create user personas based on business objectives and user testing
  • Design IA strategies with user experience and business objectives in mind
  • Develop, document, and maintain design requirements for new products and product enhancements
  • Work closely with creative and development team members to ensure execution of design requirements
  • Create sitemaps, wireframes and other architectural documents, as needed, based on clear understanding of business requirements and planning
  • Use and build interaction and design patterns
  • Generate, articulate and present IA concepts and strategies to clients
  • Ensure site IA integrity and quality control
  • Stay ahead of industry design standards and trends and share thought leadership through various communication mediums 

Qualifications 

  • Expert experience with major IA design software (Visio and Illustrator, Sketchflow a plus)
  • Expert knowledge of the web’s design opportunities and limitations as well as technical specifications
  • Ability to quickly familiarize with business goals and represent in wireframes and interaction diagrams
  • Proven ability to deliver cross platform, cross browser

  • Thrive in a fluid and fast-paced environment
  •  BS or BA in Graphic/Visual Arts, Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Information Sciences, Marketing, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, or a related area
  • 5+ years  experience, willingness for some travel
