The Challenge
A large teaching hospital, wanted a proof-of-concept of the SharePoint platform as a business solution. They also needed to determine ownership of their site, as they were unsure whether to give control to the IT department or the Business department.
The Solution
Allin conducted a presentation on SharePoint’s capabilities and features, as well as provided examples of the tool’s effectiveness as hospital business solution. We also presented new ideas about how our client could utilize SharePoint. The 2-4 week engagement utilized document sharing, workflow, and project management capabilities, presented in a combination of whiteboard and facilitated sessions.
Allin defined the vision and requirements for the project, which was followed by the design, build-out, and implementation (of the internal network, dashboards, and enterprise content management features). Allin demonstrated how to use the application, and provided the client with quick-reference documents for future use.
The Benefit
Our client realized SharePoint’s potential, and determined the platform would meet their needs. They now have an efficient site which is tailored to their unique business, but is also consistent with others in the industry. The environment currently supports 5,000 faculty, students, and staff, and is scalable to accommodate future growth and new users in the medical school. Employees can collaborate on the internal network, search for documents/knowledge/people, and utilize dashboards. They can access key performance indicators by leveraging Excel Services, and make use of the product’s Enterprise Content Management features to publish documents or content onto SharePoint.
